Books that show excessive damage, including water, mold, dust/dirt, excess smells, etc.)
Books that have highlighting, handwriting or scribbling (except author signed books)
What does the Giles County Public Library do with donations?
All donations are greatly appreciated. The library adds donated items to the collection, sells them at library book sales or finds other ways to benefit the library and its collection. The money raised through sales and cash donations helps to fund the purchase of books and other materials.

What do I do if I have a large donation?
If you have a large amount of materials that you wish to donate, please contact the GCPL staff by phone at 931-363-2720 with the quantity and description of the materials. We have limited storage space for donations, and all donations must be evaluated for adding to the collection or other uses.
We will let you know if the Library is able to accept a large number of donated materials and will set up an appointment time to bring in the materials.
New or gently used hardcover and paperback books
Media materials (DVD, CD, audiobooks) in good condition
Magazines in good condition

Bringing Donations to the Library
Donations are only accepted during library business hours.
Please bring your donations in a box or bags that can be easily carried.
Please, DO NOT place materials in the book returns or leave them outside the Library’s doors.
Limitations:
Donations are limited to one box or roughly 20 books at a time from any individual.
DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE
At your request, Library staff will provide you with a letter of receipt that you may fill out for tax purposes. The Library staff is not qualified to determine the value of your donation. It will be up to you to assign a value for tax purposes.
